How to get wedding guests to take photos at your wedding

The pro captures the essentials; guests see angles nobody else has. The problem is not a lack of cameras — it is a lack of a clear system on the day.

Wedding guests capturing moments on their phones at golden hour

Why "send photos later" does not work

Asking for photos after the event sounds reasonable, but almost nobody follows through. Guests go home tired, delete duplicates, forget which chat they were in, or upload only three shots to a WhatsApp group. Worse: anyone posting during the party spoils the surprise for guests who have not lived that moment yet. Without shot limits or a timed reveal, you end up with hundreds of duplicates and zero shared moment when opening the album.

The digital disposable camera metaphor

A physical disposable works because it limits shots and creates intent: every photo counts. Rollo brings that dynamic to the phone — QR on tables, per-guest cap, in-app camera only, reveal at a set time. Guests understand instantly: few shots, high emotion, no spoilers. It does not replace the photographer; it adds the spontaneity only people on the dance floor see.

Wedding day playbook (5 steps)

  1. Before the wedding: create your roll in Rollo, set a limit (10–20 shots per person) and reveal time (e.g. 2am or 10am the next day).
  2. On the invitation or seating chart: include a QR and one clear line: "Shoot your roll — reveals at [time]".
  3. At the toast or welcome: MC or best person explains the flow in 20 seconds.
  4. During the party: discreet sign at the bar or photobooth with the 6-character code as QR backup.
  5. After reveal: project the album on a screen or share one link — not a chaotic group chat.
